MAKHUDUTHAMAGA LOCAL MUNICIPALITY TO INTRODUCE DIKGEREKGERE TUESDAY SERVICE DELIVERY INITIATIVE IN PHOKWANE CLUSTER
The Mayor of Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality, Cllr. Merah Mahlase, will introduce the Dikgerekgere Tuesday Service Delivery Programme on Tuesday 17 September 2024 in Phokwane Cluster, to speed up service delivery by enhancing mobility on municipal gravel roads through blading and re-gravelling.
The initiative takes inspiration after the Limpopo Department of Public Works, Roads, and Infrastructure's recently launched Dikgerekgere Wednesday in the district in August this year.
The Dikgerekgere Tuesday Programme is aligned with the Municipality's Key Performance Area: Basic Service Delivery and Infrastructure Development, as well as the Integrated Development Plan's (IDP) strategic goal of reducing infrastructure and service backlogs to improve the community's quality of life.
The Municipality intends to utilise internal machinery and maintenance teams to improve the state of gravel roads and public spaces such as sports fields in response to the high volume of demand from our various villages and wards resulting from heavy rains and storms, as well as to cater to the community's social and economic needs.
The Infrastructure Development (ID) department will broaden its repair and maintenance plan to prioritise and concentrate maintenance resources on villages and wards with damaged roads through the Dikgerekgere Tuesday Programme. The programme will kick off with blading and re-gravelling of internal roads in Phokwane and Mabintane villages.
