SEKHUKHUNE DISTRICT HOSTS A SUCCESSFUL OPENING OF PROVINCIAL HOUSE OF TRADITIONAL AND KHOISAN LEADERS
The Executive Mayor of Sekhukhune District Municipality, Cllr Minah Bahula, today welcomed Limpopo Premier, Dr. Phophi Ramathuba, Human Settlements Minister, Ms. Mmamoloko Kubayi, and other distinguished leaders , including LHTKL Chairperson Hosi Pheni Ngove, and MECs Basikopo Makamu (COGHSTA), Ernest Sebataole Rachoene (Public Works, Roads, and Infrastructure), and Florence Radzilani (Social Development). The event, which also included local Mayors and traditional leaders, marked a significant milestone with the opening and launching of the Limpopo Provincial House of Traditional and Khoisan Leaders at Tafelkop, Bakgaga Ba Kopa Traditional authority under the leadership of Kgoši Rammupudu.
Premier Dr. Phophi Ramathuba who gave a keynote address, emphasized the critical importance of celebrating diverse cultures and traditions, particularly during Heritage Month. She called for the empowerment of traditional leaders through the “provision of necessary resources and tools to support their ongoing efforts in community development and the preservation of cultural heritage. You have always been the custodians of our culture and heritage and leaders of our communities. You have not just quided us in preserving history, but continue to work with us in forging a path towards sustainable development”.
The event marked a significant step in reinforcing relations between traditional leadership and government, with the end goal of addressing the needs of communities and promoting unity within the diverse cultural landscape.
